Fuzzy simulation of forest road surface parameters
The problem of construction of forest roads with the use of local low-strength substandard materials and industrial waste is considered. To solve the problem, the primary task is to develop a method for estimating the parameters of road surfaces taking into account the conditions of uncertainties in the data. This technique allows us to reasonably clarify some of the regulatory parameters and improve the technology of construction of forest roads, which was the goal of the work. To formalize the task, experimental studies were performed and on the basis of these results, the statement of the task of fuzzy derivation of the function for estimating the bearing capacity of the coating was performed. The synthesis of the output function is performed by means of Matlab. © 2019 IOP Publishing Ltd. All rights reserved
Planning the forest transport systems based on the principles of sustainable development of territories
The article identifies a new method of dynamic modeling in the design of the transport system in the forest fund (TSFF), which is based on economic and mathematical modeling and fuzzy logic tools. The combination of the indicated methods is designed to reduce the disadvantages of their use and increase the benefits. The article substantiates the choice of assessing the forecast level of the impact of risks on the activities of forestry enterprises (the method of expert assessments), using the methodological tools of fuzzy logic. The indicated method makes it possible to take into account a large variety of risk factors of the internal and external environment. At the same time, methodological aspects of fuzzy logic make it possible to formulate a quantitative assessment of qualitative indicators. The article substantiates the choice of tools for economic and mathematical modeling in order to state the design problem of the planned TSFF. Since the indicated method enables the formalization of the functioning of the timber transport system in the given conditions. The article presents a developed model that correctly takes into account the influence of risk factors when planning a TSFF, through the combination of fuzzy logic methods and economic and mathematical modeling. The advantages of the developed model include: considering the multivariance of material flows, vehicles, points of overload, etc.; automated processing of input parameters and effective data; using the model for forecasting, i.e. the possibility of deriving a fuzzy estimate of the efficiency of the timber transport system by identifying cause-effect relationships between the modeling object and the influence of risk factors on its functioning. © 2019 IOP Publishing Ltd
Materials of the final reports on the joint Soviet-American experiment on the Kosmos-936 biosatellite
Biological experiments onboard the Kosmos-936 investigated the effect of weightlessness on the basic components of cells, the genetic structure and energy apparatus. Genetic studies were made on the Drosophila melanogaster. Experiments were made on higher vegetation and fungi as well. The results indicate that weightlessness cannot be the principal barrier for normal development. An experiment with ectopic osteogenesis in weightlessness was carried out. Measurements were made of cosmic radiation inside and outside the biosatellite
Sub-milliarcsecond Imaging of Quasars and Active Galactic Nuclei. IV. Fine Scale Structure
We have used VLBA fringe visibility data obtained at 15 GHz to examine the
compact structure in 250 extragalactic radio sources. For 171 sources in our
sample, more than half of the total flux density seen by the VLBA remains
unresolved on the longest baselines. There are 163 sources in our list with a
median correlated flux density at 15 GHz in excess of 0.5 Jy on the longest
baselines. For about 60% of the sources, we have at least one observation in
which the core component appears unresolved (generally smaller than 0.05 mas)
in one direction, usually transverse to the direction into which the jet
extends. BL Lacs are on average more compact than quasars, while active
galaxies are on average less compact. Also, in an active galaxy the
sub-milliarcsecond core component tends to be less dominant. IDV sources
typically have a more compact, more core-dominated structure on
sub-milliarcsecond scales than non-IDV sources, and sources with a greater
amplitude of intra-day variations tend to have a greater unresolved VLBA flux
density. The objects known to be GeV gamma-ray loud appear to have a more
compact VLBA structure than the other sources in our sample. This suggests that
the mechanisms for the production of gamma-ray emission and for the generation
of compact radio synchrotron emitting features are related. The brightness
temperature estimates and lower limits for the cores in our sample typically
range between 10^11 and 10^13 K, but they extend up to 5x10^13 K, apparently in
excess of the equipartition brightness temperature, or the inverse Compton
limit for stationary synchrotron sources. The largest component speeds are
observed in radio sources with high observed brightness temperatures, as would
be expected from relativistic beaming (abridged).Comment: 31 pages, 13 figures, 4 tables, accepted for publication in the

Nonlinear acoustic waves in channels with variable cross sections
The point symmetry group is studied for the generalized Webster-type equation
describing non-linear acoustic waves in lossy channels with variable cross
sections. It is shown that, for certain types of cross section profiles, the
admitted symmetry group is extended and the invariant solutions corresponding
to these profiles are obtained. Approximate analytic solutions to the
generalized Webster equation are derived for channels with smoothly varying
cross sections and arbitrary initial conditions.Comment: Revtex4, 10 pages, 2 figure. This is an enlarged contribution to

Magnetoelectric effect due to local noncentrosymmetry
Magnetoelectrics often possess ions located in noncentrosymmetric
surroundings. Based on this fact we suggest a microscopic model of
magnetoelectric interaction and show that the spin-orbit coupling leads to
spin-dependent electric dipole moments of the electron orbitals of these ions,
which results in non-vanishing polarization for certain spin configurations.
The approach accounts for the macroscopic symmetry of the unit cell and is
valid both for commensurate and complex incommensurate magnetic structures. The
model is illustrated by the examples of MnWO4, MnPS3 and LiNiPO4. Application
to other magnetoelectrics is discussed.Comment: 11 pages, 2 figures, 2 table
PSR B0329+54: Statistics of Substructure Discovered within the Scattering Disk on RadioAstron Baselines of up to 235,000 km
We discovered fine-scale structure within the scattering disk of PSR B0329+54
in observations with the RadioAstron ground-space radio interferometer. Here,
we describe this phenomenon, characterize it with averages and correlation
functions, and interpret it as the result of decorrelation of the
impulse-response function of interstellar scattering between the
widely-separated antennas. This instrument included the 10-m Space Radio
Telescope, the 110-m Green Bank Telescope, the 14x25-m Westerbork Synthesis
Radio Telescope, and the 64-m Kalyazin Radio Telescope. The observations were
performed at 324 MHz, on baselines of up to 235,000 km in November 2012 and
January 2014. In the delay domain, on long baselines the interferometric
visibility consists of many discrete spikes within a limited range of delays.
On short baselines it consists of a sharp spike surrounded by lower spikes. The
average envelope of correlations of the visibility function show two
exponential scales, with characteristic delays of and , indicating the presence of two scales of
scattering in the interstellar medium. These two scales are present in the
pulse-broadening function. The longer scale contains 0.38 times the scattered
power of the shorter one. We suggest that the longer tail arises from
highly-scattered paths, possibly from anisotropic scattering or from
substructure at large angles.Comment: 15 pages, 6 figures, 3 tables; accepted by Astrophysical journa
Hitchin Equation, Singularity, and N=2 Superconformal Field Theories
We argue that Hitchin's equation determines not only the low energy effective
theory but also describes the UV theory of four dimensional N=2 superconformal
field theories when we compactify six dimensional theory on a
punctured Riemann surface. We study the singular solution to Hitchin's equation
and the Higgs field of solutions has a simple pole at the punctures; We show
that the massless theory is associated with Higgs field whose residual is a
nilpotent element; We identify the flavor symmetry associated with the puncture
by studying the singularity of closure of the moduli space of solutions with
the appropriate boundary conditions. For the mass-deformed theory the residual
of the Higgs field is a semi-simple element, we identify the semi-simple
element by arguing that the moduli space of solutions of mass-deformed theory
must be a deformation of the closure of the moduli space of the massless
theory. We also study the Seiberg-Witten curve by identifying it as the
spectral curve of the Hitchin's system. The results are all in agreement with
Gaiotto's results derived from studying the Seiberg-Witten curve of four
dimensional quiver gauge theory.Comment: 42 pages, 20 figures, Hitchin's equation for N=2 theory is derived by

Observations of Lensed Relativistic Jets as a Tool of Constraining Lens Galaxy Parameters
The possibility of using lensed relativistic jets on very small angular
scales to construct proper models of spiral lens galaxies and to independently
determine the Hubble constant is considered. The system B0218+357 is used as an
example to illustrate that there exists a great choice of model parameters
adequately reproducing its observed large-scale properties but leading to a
significant spread in the Hubble constant. The jet image position angle is
suggested as an additional parameter that allows the range of models under
consideration to be limited. It is shown that the models for which the jet
image position angles differ by at least can be distinguished between
themselves during observations on very small angular scales. The possibility of
observing the geometric properties of lensed relativistic jets and measuring
the superluminal velocities of knot images on time scales of several months
with very long baseline space interferometers is discussed.Comment: 11 pages, 3 figures, Will be published in the Astronomy Letters,
